Royal Eijkelkamp’s Sonic rigs continue to exceed expectations through fulfilling projects in the most extreme of locations. In the summer of 2022, with German partners BTR Bohrtechnik Rosswag and BAUER, two rigs find themselves on the jetties of Heligoland. Here our MRS XL Max (LRS 275) and CRS 170 XL MAX (CRS 170) perform the heavy tasks for large diameter destructive drilling for the installation of grouting umbilicals.
The project encompasses the repair of a 72 meter long pier on the South water wall in the Federal port of Heligoland. In total, 415 boreholes will be completed at the depth of 12 meters until the ground concrete is reached. Then the holes are to be filled with grouting injections to secure the stability and rigidity of the pier.
The project is planned to be completed within a 5 month timeframe, but with the efficiency and speed of our sonic machines, the project looks to be finished at an earlier time.
The jetty itself consists of high-density concrete with heavy rebar and all kind of rubble. Not the easiest drilling conditions. However, our True 150Hz powers through with ease, demonstrating the full durability of our machines despite the extreme winds, waves, and temperatures.
