A two day course for those wishing to have a deeper understanding of the cone penetration test and the many processes that can impact data quality, as well as govern its suitability for various applications.
The course covers many elements of the CPT process, from selecting the right equipment to understanding and processing captured data - and even analysing data quality to assess a CPT operation. We also look at how you determine whether the data obtained is suitable for different applications.
The course will be largely in the classroom, but will also include a demonstration of a CPT as well as hands-on explanation of the CPT system elements.
Programme
Day 1
- Introduction to CPT
- CPT Deployment
- Equipment Selection
- Introduction to CPT Rigs
- Introduction to CPT Data System
- Performing a CPT
Day 2
- Porepressure and Dissipation testing
- Data and Applications
- Causes of Error
- Data processing and corrections
- Introduction to Seismic Testing
For whom
Engineers, Project Managers, Engineer operators.
After the training
After attending this course, participants should have a detailed understanding of the cone penetration test and the many elements in equipment selection, test procedure and data processing that contribute to the quality and applicability of CPT data for various applications. This will allow participants to critically assess data quality and in the case of poor data quality assess the reasons why.
The participants should also have a good understanding of the dissipation test, as well as a basic understanding of supplementary techniques such as Seismic CPT.
