This type of auger has an almost half cylindrical auger body with parallel cutting edges running from top to bottom. The auger has a 13-mm diameter and an operational length of 25 cm. Total length of the auger is 58 cm. The fully galvanised agricultural auger is also available in a set. This set also contains a mineral gouge auger and two thumb spatulas.
The auger is used to take samples from the soil with a length of 25 cm. By taking 40 samples, a mixed sample of approximately 2 kg is obtained. If well distributed over a plot, this gives a reliable indication of the soil composition.
